Founded in 1988 and listed on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited since 1993 (Stock Code: 716), Singamas Container Holdings Limited (¡°Singamas¡±) is a leading manufacturer of containers, operator of terminals and container depots and provider of logistics services.
Opening its first container factory in Shanghai in 1990, the management of Singamas from the outset regarded China as an important base for its production activities. Maintaining this view, the co***ny strategically established factories in key coastal ports, operating 10 facilities in the country. Such strong and diverse production capacity has enabled Singamas to offer a comprehensive range of products, including dry freight containers, collapsible flatrack containers, open top containers, bitutainers, refrigerated containers, U.S. domestic containers, tank containers, offshore containers and other specialised containers. With existing production capacity of 1 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), Singamas is one of the largest container manufacturers in the world today.
A logical extension of the manufacturing operation is Singamas¡¯ logistics services business. Having identified early on a growing demand for logistics services among members of the global shipping industry, the co***ny established container depots in Tianjin and Qingdao back in 1994. By 2001, Singamas officially diversified into logistics services, and in over one decade established 11 container depots and terminals, eight of which are in China and three in Hong Kong. Further, a logistics co***ny was opened in Xiamen in 2001.
While fully committed to furthering Singamas¡¯ development, the management also recognised that ongoing advancement of the industry is essential for the co***ny¡¯s own progress and evolution. In addition, the management has continued to invest in automation, environmental protection and workplace safety, in order to be a responsible corporate citizen and to lead the industry by example.
